On May 24th, 1918, most women aged 21 and over were given the right to vote in federal elections. Although some women were still not able to vote provincially and racial minorities continued to be excluded from suffrage until later in the century, this was a significant advancement in the fight for equal rights. We remember all those who stood up for the rights of all Canadians to participate in our democracy.
