Five weeks ago, the House of Commons passed a Common Sense Conservative motion calling for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to hold a public carbon tax conference with the Premiers to hear how the Prime Minister’s carbon tax and his plan to quadruple it is hurting Canadians.
The deadline to call that meeting is here and yet Trudeau has ignored the will of Parliament and refused. He continues to hide from the Premiers and the public about his key policy because he knows that he is making life unaffordable for struggling Canadians. He knows that Canadians reject his carbon tax, and no amount of lying to Canadians about his phony rebates is going to change that.
His best defence is that he met with the Premiers about this eight years ago. But after eight years, every Premier that agreed at the time is gone.
The Parliamentary Budget Officer has made clear that most Canadians are poorer because of Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax. He doesn’t understand that if you tax the farmer who makes the food and the trucker who ships the food, you end up taxing the family who buys the food. This is why the cost of gas, groceries, and heat have skyrocketed.
A clear majority of Canadians and Premiers are demanding that Justin Trudeau finally take the tax off, but Trudeau is continuing with his plan to quadruple the carbon tax to 61 cents a litre by 2030. He doesn’t care. He’s not worth the cost.
Only Common Sense Conservatives will axe the tax on everything, for everyone.
