For Students

Student Loan Payments

The government previously announced that effective March 30, there will be a 6-month interest-free moratorium on the payment of Canada Student Loans.

The Canada Emergency Student Benefit:

This week, the Government announced that eligible students and those who graduated since December 2019 will soon be able to receive $1,250 per month, or $1,750 per month for students with dependents or disabilities. The benefit would be available from May to August 2020. This is only for those who are not eligible for CERB.

Student Service Grant:

The Government also announced the Student Service Grant for students who choose to do national service and serve their communities. The new Canada Student Service Grant will provide $1,000-$5,000 – depending on volunteer hours – for their education in the fall.

Increased Loans for Students Returning to University:

The government has also announced a change to the Canada Student Loan Program to expand eligibility and increase loan amounts for eligible students for the upcoming semester.
I will continue to provide you with important information as it becomes available. Take care of each other.

God bless you all.

Sincerely,

Kelly Block, MP
