March for Life

Dear Friends,

Yesterday, the annual March for Life took place.

The March for Life is the largest annual pro-life event in Canada, with thousands of people attending each year in Ottawa to celebrate life and advocate for protections for the pre-born and the most vulnerable.

This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the March moved online for the first time. As a member who cares deeply about the value and dignity of human life,  from conception to natural death, I had the honour of sending remarks to those attending the first-ever “Virtual March for Life”:

Also this year, we have something special to advocate for. My colleague, Yorkton-Melville MP Cathay Wagantall, has introduced Bill C-233, The Sex-Selective Abortion Act.

This legislation is designed to end the unacceptable practice of aborting a pre-born child solely because they are not the desired sex. Legislation restricting this practice has huge support across Canada, with a recent poll showing that 84% of Canadians want sex-selective abortion made illegal

As MP Wagantall said: “Sex-selective abortion is antithetical to our commitment to equality and needs to be prohibited as an unacceptable practice.”

I am proud to support this Bill, and will be voting for it in the House of Commons.

I hope this information has been of interest to you.

Have a good long weekend everyone.

Sincerely,

Kelly Block, MP
