Dear Friends,
As 2020 draws to a close, I want to personally thank all of you who have reached out to both myself and my office with your questions and concerns during this pandemic.
While our office has been busier than ever with inquiries and correspondence I am grateful for your engagement.
Canadians have legitimate questions regarding the positions being taken by their elected representatives, decisions being made by their governments and the plan for a path forward which will see them get their lives back.
That is why it is so alarming to hear the pushback on citizens who are clearly engaged and asking critical questions.
Last week I addressed Prime Minister Trudeau’ s own comments on “the reset” and his response to Canadians.
You can find my statement here: https://fb.watch/2nk3tfPwJf/.
This week we learned of Trudeau’s continuing naive approach to communist China and how dangerous it is for Canada.
On December 10 The Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, released the following statement:
“I am very concerned. Canada’s entanglement with Communist China under Justin Trudeau is worse than anyone could have imagined.
“Global Affairs Canada, under influence from the Trudeau Liberals, has been pressuring Canada’s military to have joint exercises and cooperation with the Communist Chinese military: the People’s Liberation Army.
“Justin Trudeau has ignored the advice of our military and allies for years on China. This dangerously naïve approach has put Canada at risk – over and over again.
“Today is the anniversary of the illegal abduction and imprisonment of two innocent Canadians in China. For months, China has unfairly targeted our farmers. For years, the Chinese Communist Party has been carrying out the mass internment of the Uyghurs in concentration camps.
“And still the Liberals keep pushing for more involvement with China.
“Our military wanted to end joint exercises with China because the theft of intellectual property, cyberespionage, and influence operations are not an occasional occurrence with China, they are the norm.
“Let me be very clear. China does not act like a partner or a friend. It is time the Trudeau government stops the dangerous influence of Chinese money and operatives.
“The government’s new framework with respect to Communist China needs to be implemented now.
“The government needs to wake up – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s naïve approach to China must stop now.”
Canadians deserve answers, and they deserve to be treated with respect. This Liberal government cannot continue to dismiss their concerns.
Rest assured that I, along with my colleagues, will continue to fight for Canadians, and push for the prosperity of our nation.
I hope this has been of interest to you.
Sincerely,
Kelly Block, MP
